Sikkim Cultural Journey with Darjeeling: B & D.N. of Germany said

As far as our stay is concerned, we can report only the very best. Even though we had originally imagined that having just the driver as our sole companion would be ideal, the combination of the experienced guide together with the always attentive and equally knowledgeable driver turned out to be excellent. With both of them, we always felt safe and cared for in a highly pleasant and discreet manner. It would be hard to find better companions. In this way, we were able to truly enjoy our time together and learned a great deal about this small corner of the world. In addition, you showed a very good sense of judgment in selecting accommodations that matched our interests. Our initial doubts about the homestay also disappeared very quickly after we arrived. Not only was it an excellent starting point for interesting walks and sightseeing, but in itself it was one of the highlights of the trip. This was especially thanks to Mrs. Sonam, who—although she was only filling in for her brother, who works in government service—seems to be the real heart and soul of the place. She took wonderful care of us and, as we learned during a chat with a local acquaintance we met by chance, is well known locally as an excellent host (“oh, you’re staying at the cookie house!”). The accommodation, too, left nothing to be desired. We would also like to acknowledge your own development work in Rumtek. Even though we only spent one night at the Bamboo Retreat, we remember our stay there very fondly. By the way, we were rather disappointed with Darjeeling—our memories from a visit 30 years earlier had painted a different picture. But this was more than made up for by the subsequent stay in Sikkim.

“We liked it very much. We are still drawing on the friendliness of the people, the impressive Buddhist cultural monuments, and the beautiful landscape there. What was special? I think it was the opportunity to be so close to the everyday life of the Sikkimese people, e.g., the homestay in North Sikkim, the hike in the Kalimpong area with a school visit, or the visit to a primary health center. We got along very well with our guides and drivers—thanks again to everyone for the wonderful time. We were given an introduction to Buddhist philosophy/religion. Thanks to my guide, the excellent travel organization, his attentiveness and care, his professional and friendly team - and his wealth of knowledge about the local form of Buddhism (which I can judge well, as I know quite a bit about it myself)—this three-week pilgrimage will count among my most treasured travel experiences. The food, accommodations, treks, and sightseeing all deserve the highest praise. The fact that I was even physically able to visit the four caves—landslides had destroyed parts of the path to the Northern Cave—is solely thanks to my guide and his support.
